Throughout her tenure at FIT, Dr. Joyce Brown has built faculty ranks, supported the incorporation of advanced technology into the curriculum and operations, improved student services, enhanced the campus with new and renovated facilities, and invigorated its culture with groundbreaking initiatives in diversity and sustainability. She is outspoken on the need to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion, not only on campus, but at all education levels, in the workplace, and throughout society. Her leadership has won recognition in the education community, in the media, and beyond.
Overseeing a nine-member cabinet of senior administrators, Dr. Brown engages the FIT community in strategic and investment planning efforts to ensure that the college's mission is fulfilled and its core values realized. These include building the faculty of the future, expanding the curriculum, ensuring innovation, and furthering a student-centered culture.
Brandice Daniel
Brandice Henderson, CEO and Founder of Harlem's Fashion Row, has over 12 years of experience in fashion ranging from retail, buying, costing, and production. In May 2007, Henderson created HFR and produced the first fashion show which received critical acclaim and a mention in Women's Wear Daily.
In just 5 years, Brandice moved Harlem’s Fashion Row from a small restaurant venue to the striking Allen Room at Lincoln Center. She's gained corporate support from companies such as Target Stores, Iman Cosmetics, Sprite Green, and BET. Harlem's Fashion Row has also been covered by NY Daily News, New York Time Out, and Jones Magazine as well as NYC TV "That's So New York", The Cut, NY Racked, Black Enterprise, and Centric.
Harlem's Fashion Row is now a movement to increase diversity in fashion by producing events to teach, inspire, and encourage as well as by providing a platform for designers of color during fashion week. Harlem’s Fashion Row is a business with a purpose.
Henderson conducts herself and directs HFR with passion, courage, and a tremendous heart for people. She continues to push the boundaries and is known for constantly challenging herself in all aspects of her life. She currently resides in Harlem and is an active member of the young professional committee of Women Who Care, an annual luncheon that benefits United Cerebral Palsy New York.
Terry Lundgren
Terry J. Lundgren served for 14 years as CEO of Macy's, Inc., operator of Macy's, Bloomingdale's, Bluemercury and one of the largest retail ecommerce businesses in America. He retired from Macy's, Inc. in January 2018 after serving for 10 months as the company's Executive Chairman. Prior to becoming CEO of the company in February 2003 and Chairman and CEO in January 2004, Lundgren had been President and Chief Merchandising Officer since May 1997. (The company's name changed to Macy's, Inc. from Federated Department Stores, Inc. in 2007.) As CEO, Lundgren led Federated's acquisition of The May Department Stores Company in August 2005, nearly doubling the size of the company. One year later, he changed the name of more than 400 regional department stores across the country to the Macy's name, creating a nationwide brand and the largest fashion retail company in America. In fiscal 2016, the final years of Lundgren's tenure as CEO, Macy's, Inc. sales approached $26 billion, with approximately 140,000 employees. The company operated approximately 575 department stores under the nameplates Macy's and Bloomingdale's, and approximately 150 specialty stores that include Bluemercury, Bloomingdale's The Outlet and Macy's Backstage, in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico, as well as macys.com, bloomingdales.com and bluemercury.com. Bloomingdale's has store locations in the Middle East in partnership with the Al Tayer Group and Macy's has an on-line presence in China on Alibaba's TMall global e-commerce platform.
Prior to joining Federated, Lundgren was Chairman, CEO of Neiman Marcus. Lundgren is a native of Long Beach, CA, a graduate of The University of Arizona, and an active supporter of The Terry J. Lundgren Center for Retailing at The University of Arizona. He has honorary doctorate degrees from The University of Arizona and Suffolk University. Lundgren currently serves on the boards of The Procter & Gamble Company, Carnegie Hall and The Economic Club of New York. He is a former board member of Kraft Foods Inc., the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and has participated in numerous charitable and civic efforts and has received numerous awards and recognitions for his leadership in the Fashion Retail industries as well as for his civic and charitable contributions. He has served as co-chairman of the Partnership for New York City and the American Heart Association CEO Roundtable, and chairman of the National Retail Federation (twice), National Minority Supplier Development Council, and the American Society of Corporate Executives.
